Summary

We are looking for a smart, creative, energetic, and detail-oriented attorney to join Collective Health’s legal team. In this role, you’ll work with talented people throughout the company and serve as a key advisor to the product and operations teams, advising on a diverse set of matters that straddle healthcare and privacy laws. As a member of Collective Health’s legal team, you’ll have the opportunity to help address some of the company’s trickiest legal challenges as we scale into a world-class healthcare technology company.

Responsibilities
  • Counsel the product and operations team on a range of issues including ERISA, PPACA and HIPAA compliance, privacy requirements, and IRS regulations.
  • Help develop efficient and compliant policies and procedures with the operations team.
  • Help build scalable and effective processes and launch new products.
  • Draft, review and update legal documents and communications (internal and external) for product and service offerings.
  • Stay up-to-date and keep the legal team advised on relevant healthcare and privacy laws.
  • Serve as a proactive business partner to senior managers and build a trusted advisor relationship.
Ideal Candidate
  • A J.D., with license to practice in California
  • 4+ years of legal practice at a law firm, government agency, and/or fast-growing technology company
  • Experience and/or expertise in any of the following will be a distinguishing factor: ERISA, PPACA, HIPAA, IRS regulations and/or state and federal privacy law
  • Exceptional communication skills with a knack for explaining complicated legal concepts in plain English
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment, including the ability to make difficult calls and weigh all factors of a decision keeping the big picture in mind while sweating the tiniest details
  • Demonstrated talent for building trust within organizations and bringing different points of view to the table to find the best solution
  • Ability to effectively manage projects and expectations
