Primary Purpose:
The Director of Product Development will strategically lead and support the PD team as a key liaison between Design, Merchandising, Production, Materials, and Global Sourcing offices. Reports to the Division Vice President Men’s Product Development.

- Leads and strategizes the development and costing process from Early Development to Commercialization to achieve corporate and department goals. The Director is accountable to deliver the collection consistent with the aesthetic vision and with a strong focus on meeting the business requirements for margin goals, quality standards and timelines.
- Develops and mentors the team to build organizational bench strength; recognizes and cultivates talent.
- Builds relationships and initiates processes with internal and external partners that facilitate cross-functional synergy and collaboration.
- Develops and implements best practice processes and procedures for the team and the department.
- Partners with IS and business partners to develop and implement technology solutions to drive efficiency in the development and product costing processes.
- Strategizes the execution of the team’s activities by ensuring consistency of process, quality of information and timely execution in adherence with the Product Development Timeline (PDT).
- Drives the development of product to meet and exceed the target margin requirements, achieve design intent and maintain quality standards.
- Aligns and communicates cross-functionally and globally on the execution of development, costing and implementation of strategies to drive decision-making.
- Strategizes and partners with global PD Team Leads in setting priorities, driving developments and leading innovation.
- Anticipates and drives issue resolution and manages up as necessary.
- Drives all costing activities according to PDT and other cost specific sub-calendars.
- Oversees product costing for each new intro and develops strategies to meet/exceed margin requirements.
- Monitors and maintains Corporate Gross Margin for product categories.
- Leads Retail and Outlet Divisions – All Seasons.
- Aligns development across Retail and Outlet and across divisions where applicable.
- Owns development analysis and strategies to improve challenges.
- 10-15 years in product development role – leather goods, apparel, footwear
- Experience supporting a design and development process
- Experience working for a luxury a brand a plus
- Experience working with local and global manufacturers
