Summary
The Database Analyst will serve the data needs of decision-makers and managers across all areas of ClearSlide’s business including sales, marketing, operations, and product. The database analyst will provide data to internal clients via reporting, dashboards, analysis, and ad-hoc queries. The database analyst will maintain, tune, and optimize the infrastructure that keeps self-serve reporting humming for analysts in all business groups at ClearSlide.
Responsibilities
* Serve internal clients who are in need of data to drive decision-making, performance tracking, and insight discovery * Learn ClearSlide’s data structure quickly and hit the ground running creating SQL queries that pull the needed data correctly * Provide dashboards and analysis to business groups, including sales, marketing, operations, and product * Become a go-to expert on where every type of data lives at ClearSlide * Increase the speed with which internal clients can get data and the first-try accuracy of data pulls * Build and maintain self-serve reports in Tableau * Maintain Tableau data sources and tune them for performance and ease of use by non-technical business users * Gather requirements and asks from business users and drive improvements and adoption of self-serve reporting in Tableau * Serve as Tableau administrator and train and guide business users
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements** * Bachelors degree in a technical field * 5 years experience in roles requiring work with databases (Amazon RedShift and MySQL preferred) * Advanced SQL skills * Experience with front-end database access tools and/or Business Intelligence tools (Tableau preferred) * Experience working with the business groups, such as marketing, sales, and business ops * Great communication and problem framing skills * Ability to communicate without technical jargon * A focus on data for the value it brings, not data for data’s sake * You’re extremely detail-oriented when you write queries, but you understand the rule of 80/20 when you perform business analyses **Desired** * Masters degree * experience with data warehousing and schema design * experience maintaining, not just using a BI tool (such as Tableau) * experience writing ETLs * experience with database administration * NoSQL experience
