Responsibilities
Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work: The communications manager plays a key role in managing the day-to-day communications efforts for the City, including media relations, social media, and web content. Duties to include but not limited to serving as a primary media contact for the City, overseeing internal and external communications activities, and managing special projects as assigned by the director of communications and marketing. Supervisory responsibilities will include overseeing the work of the communications division and its employees and supervising external and internal communications efforts. The communications manager works in conjunction with the director of communications and marketing and closely with the Graphic Services Manager and Greensboro Television Network Manager in the evaluation and assessment of communications needs.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience * 5 years experience as a communications or marketing professional * Experience using social media platforms for strategic communications (examples: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram) * Experience in a web environment, preparing written or video content for a website * 1 + years supervisory experience including personnel and budget * Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Preferred Qualifications: * BA in Communications, Journalism or related field Prior experience serving as a media spokesperson Prior experience in a government communications environment * Geographical and physical knowledge of the City of Greensboro * Proven experience working with the media * Positive relationships with the local media * Prior proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite

Working Conditions

Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm Occasional nights and weekends
