Cisco's Trademark-Marketing Team operates within the Legal Department. The team supports the company in the management and protection of Cisco's global trademark portfolio and on marketing and copyright matters. This individual will work at the direction of the company's Head of Trademark-Marketing Department.
- Primary responsibility for 1) the dispute work globally, including investigation and analysis of issues, advising and working with the relevant business stakeholders, drafting/responding to demand letters, instituting administrative proceedings; and 2) managing the prosecution of domestic and foreign trademark applications and maintenance of trademark registrations.
- Develop and implement enforcement strategy and educate relevant stakeholders about trademark and copyright protection; assist with the development of trademark filing strategies and brand consistency initiatives.
- Assist with availability searches, licensing issues, acquired trademark, copyright and domain name assets and general trademark and copyrights matters, such as proper usage and marking.
- Provide analysis and counseling on marketing and advertising issues, including advertising and promotional clearance, contests, sweepstakes, endorsement and sponsorship agreements and privacy.
- Supervise and collaborate with outside counsel.
- 5+ years of trademark experience (clearance, prosecution, enforcement/defense and licensing; in-house legal experience a plus); recent marketing experience; privacy experience a plus.
- Must be able to work independently, be flexible, take initiative and think strategically.
- Ability to manage and prioritize workload efficiently in a very dynamic environment.
- Communicate well at all different levels inside and outside the company, interacting with senior executives, managers, engineers and brand/marketing teams and outside counsel.
- Need to be a collaborative team player comfortable working in a distributed environment.
