Microservices Software Engineer

The Microservices Software Engineer will be responsible for serving as a senior level trusted advisor for the development and execution of CDC’s Shared Data cloud platform road map and strategy.

* Recommends new and emerging techniques, tools and best practices to support a highly efficient implementation and adoption of surveillance shared services. * Participates in the development of service development processes and supports adoption by technical staff. * Provides guidance and technical support within ensuring the creation of design and development artifacts as governed by the service development process. * Assists in the delivery of efficient and extensible-shared services and help to ensure that security is embedded throughout the design and development processes. * Responsible for the establishment of service on-boarding, governance and quality control processes. * Responsible for creating technical documentation and engineering specifications.

**Minimum Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or a related discipline. * At least twelve (12) years of software engineering experience. * Must have current expertise in Java Full-Stack with at least 3 year Microservices experience. **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Excellent written and oral communication skills * Well-developed problem-solving skills, and a fine eye for detail. * Strong emphasis on engineering best practices including; Peer Reviews, Inspections, Automation, Unit Testing, Continuous Integration/ Continuous Deliver; * Skilled at a facilitative, learn-teach-learn approach - mentors and guides with hands-on delivery; * Knowledge of AngularJS, API Management and Databases; * Knowledge of, and experience with, Object-Oriented Design and multi-threaded application development; * Experience developing RESTful web services * Knowledge of cloud IaaS/PaaS and Microservices design a plus **Diversity:** * Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences; Educates others on the value of diversity; Promotes a harassment-free environment; Builds a diverse workforce. **Ethics:** * Treats people with respect; Keeps commitments; Inspires the trust of others; Works with integrity and ethically; Upholds organizational values. **Physical Demands:** * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
