Senior Staff Software Application Engineer

Cash and Stock Solutions (CSS) provides application development and production support for the systems and services to move cash and stock, calculate and apply interest, handle dividend distributions, proxies, and other corporate actions, custody and reconcile assets, settle streetside obligations, transfer account assets into and out of Schwab and trade, clear and custody Mutual Funds.

* Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software enhancements and/or new products used in local, networked, or Internet related computer programs * Code may be used in commercial or end-user applications; such as materials management, financial management, HRIS or desktop applications products * Write code, complete programming, and perform testing and debugging of applications using current programming language and technologies * Complete documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance * May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications

* Degree in Computer Science, or a mixture of certifications and equivalent experience * 5+ years of programming experience * Work experience in Java Database Connectivity, Remote Method Invocation, and Java Message Service * Work experience with Oracle databases and Java Swing API * Candidate should be familiar with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Servlets and JSPS * Soft skills should include strong communication and documentation capabilities and familiarity with RUP and Agile methodologies * Previous experience in trading or financial services, or an interest in learning a plus
