Summary
Do you want to be part of a Data Warehouse team managing over 120 terabytes of data for a leading financial firm with over $2.5 trillion in assets under management? The Global Data Technology organization is a highly skilled and passionate team that explores new ways to leverage our data as a strategic asset. Through hands-on initiatives with our business partners we contribute to the company’s customer experience, revenue and profitability. We are looking for a Data Modeler / Data Architect with deep experience in EDW development, passion for data solutions, and a robust curiosity for emerging big data development patterns.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will get close to the data and understand how the data supports Schwab business. You will work with business users and create data solutions to meet their needs. The Data Modeler / Data Architect position is in the Data Management team within the Global Data Technology organization. The Data Management team is ultimately responsible for the data model for Enterprise Data Warehouse and the Big Data Hub. The Data Management team establishes data modeling standards for the Data Warehouse. The Data Warehouse uses an integrated data model, which supports the ability to join data across domains and business organizations. The data model should be well documented with sufficient and readable metadata. As Data Modeler, you will review and approve the Logical Data Model proposed by the Analysts. Working with the DBA, you then develop the Physical Data Model. You will work with our partner – the Global Data Office, and incorporate Data Governance into the Data Warehouse and Big Data domains. As Data Architect, you will help develop Reference Data Architecture, data design standards and best practices for Data Warehouse and Big Data. You embrace and leverage the Big Data opportunity, and help us find the right balance between the Data Warehouse and Big Data.
Ideal Candidate
**Skills required:** * Data Modeling, ERwin (or equivalent) tool experience, Normalized / Denormalized / Star / Snowflake / Kimball / Inmon design concepts. * Deep SQL, data analysis. * Statistics background. * Big Data skills (desired). * Experience working in multiple roles in Data Warehouse : Analysis (desired), reporting (desired), ETL, DBA. * Teradata (highly desired) or other MPP databases. * Ability to work in a fast-paced, technical, cross-functional environment and ability to work with minimal supervision. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Experience working in financial industry a plus. **Qualifications** * BS in STEM major (required) * 3+ years working on data models: logical and physical * 6 years working in a Data Warehouse environment * 1 year working on Data Governance / Data Management covering topics such as Data Quality, Data Stewardship, Data Security, Metadata, Data Retention
