Transportation Intern Engineer

CH2M was founded in 1946 in Corvallis, Oregon by Oregon State University civil engineering professor Fred Merryfield and three of his students: Holly Cornell, James Howland and Thomas Burke Hayes (the firm was named after the founders, with Howland and Hayes making up the H2 portion).

**Candidates for this internship position should be pursuing a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on transportation or traffic engineering. This temporary, full-time position will include field work as well as office work to compile data and assist engineers. The position is a summer internship running 12 weeks between May and August. Work hours are 40 hours per week, generally Monday through Friday from 8 AM ??? 5 PM. Depending upon experience, work tasks could include:** * Completing concept design in Micro station * Coordinating with utility companies on right of way encroachment permits * Preparing plats for right of way / easement documents * Observing resurfacing projects * Observation of construction projects such as sidewalk installation and roadway widening * Reviewing land disturbance plans for compliance with local codes including storm water * Sign inspection and design * Inspection of pavement marking installations * Field data collection of traffic volumes and speeds * Traffic signal inspection and field data collection * Interaction with citizens and city staff * This position may include work that would require repetitive lifting of instruments weighing 10 to 15 pounds. The work area can involve a working environment indoors as well as outdoors, which could cause exposure to outdoor elements; proper employee-furnished environmental/weather attire will be required. The use of appropriate company-provided safety equipment will be required in certain situations. Background screening and drug testing will be required. Candidate must possess a valid driver???s license.
