Summary
The Material Planner Technician is responsible for managing the on time delivery performance for a group of assigned suppliers including tenacious follow-up until issues are resolved. The Material Planner Technician will also be required to expertly understand and use an Oracle-based ERP system to manage supply and scheduling and resolve outstanding system exceptions. In addition, this position will initiate meetings with suppliers to drive closure of past due lines, research supplier overall performance to identify root causes of delivery delays, and take action with the suppliers to correct both. .
Responsibilities
* Manages weekly on time delivery performance of assigned suppliers * Using six sigma methodology - determines root causes for late delivery and works with suppliers to eliminate controllable impediments to delivery schedules. * Aggressively negotiates best ship dates with suppliers and proactively plans future schedules to ensure that customer due dates are achieved. * Confidently escalates unresolved past due issues to higher levels of supplier management * Accurately updates past due tracker to reflect detailed status of all past due lines including specific follow up and customer impact data * Interface with CEVA customer service team to respond to customer requested schedule changes * Investigate and resolve complex MRP supply/demand system exceptions for assigned suppliers and take appropriate actions to correct and prevent future occurrences * Takes on a lead role in regular meetings with past due and capacity constraint suppliers along with customer sourcing team associates * Identifies opportunities to improve transportation scheduling and other supply processes and procedures * Ensures supplier invoicing paperwork is compliant with accounting requirements Investigates and resolves warehouse receipt exceptions related to assigned suppliers and order lines * Reviews additional exception reports such as excess inventory and non-conforming product and drives resolution of each exception for assigned supplier order lines
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration preferred or equivalent work experience. * Minimum 4 years direct experience in supply chain management, logistics/transportation industry, automotive or general manufacturing * Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of management * Able to handle conflict and make demands that are in the best interest of the customer * Possesses very strong sense of urgency * Capable of escalating issues to and communicating with upper levels of supplier management * Strong ability to organize time/tasks and prioritize efficiently * Strong critical thinking and analytical skills * Strong organizational and/or project management skills * Understand need for cross functional and global thinking when resolving problems * Knowledge of MRP and ERP systems * Knowledge of basic supply and demand principles * Relates well in diverse groups of people and values diversity * Ability to influence peers in an environment of non-direct reporting * Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously * Results oriented
