Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager with support from the PPL Regional EHS personnel, the EHS Manager is responsible for coordinating all environmental, health and safety activities at the site. This position is responsible for promoting Saint-Gobain EHS policies and for ensuring compliance with all pertinent regulations that apply to the site. Strict adherence to Corporate and/or local policies, rules, and regulations in these areas is required.
Responsibilities
* Researches, translates, communicates and implements governmental and company regulations/standards in matters related to environment, health and safety issues * Responsible for managing and sustaining the site Environmental Management System (EMS) in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard * Creates, implements, trains and audits environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and practices for the site * Coordinates communications between the site and regulatory agencies as related to EHS matters * Ensures compliance with governmental and SG and PPL EHS requirements * Coordinates and / or conducts training for facility personnel as it concerns EHS matters * Manages local EHS department activities to ensure that objectives are met * Cultivates relationships with regulatory agencies to facilitate open communication (NYDEC, NYDOH, EPA etc…) on matters of importance to the site. * Performs other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business * Exhibits model behavior as related to EHS policies and practices * Participates and contributes to individual or group collaborative assignments across sites and or other business units * Lead, coach and manage other EHS team members as applicable
Ideal Candidate
* Five or more years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with a proven track record of success in reducing occupational injuries and maintaining compliance with pertinent regulations * Strong Environmental background and experience with local, state and federal regulations and reporting. * Prior supervisory experience required * Must have demonstrated abilities as an effective trainer / coach * Experience with lean manufacturing desirable
