Operations Technician 1

This position is responsible for provisioning,testing and grooming of all Broadband and Ethernet network transport circuits. This position interfaces with internal CenturyLink departments, outside vendors, carriers, and end user customers. This position has direct impact on cost savings, optimization and reliability of our national and international networks.

- Technician for customer/company network systems installation and/or maintenance activities - Works on relatively straightforward installation and/or maintenance activities of Broadband and Ethernet services on network transport equipment. - Technician for company network maintenance activities. - Coordinates with other departments and vendors to ensure on-time delivery of service to customers. - Primary function is the ability to provision Broadband and Ethernet circuits in various types of transport equipment. - Performs trouble isolation for issues with regrooms during the first 48 hours post regroom. - Engages other technical assistance teams to assist with trouble resolution and regroom activity. - Knowledge of transport equipment. As well, a basic understanding of LAN and WAN technology. - Knowledge of basic transport topology. - Hours may vary depending on the needs of the business. - Inbound customer service center-highly structured and fast paced.

**Minimum Qualifications:** - Associate degree or equivalent education and experience. Min 3 yrs related experience in specific area or equivalent. May require technical certification. - Remotely provision (vendor order and management) field operations to establish Layer 1/2 (OSI model) on services sold by CenturyLink. Services include DS-3, OC-n, 1G through 100G LAN-PHY. Coordinates, plans, and implements Network installation/maintenance and service activations. - Works well with internal customers and engineering from start and complete orders in a timely manner. - Coordinate with appropriate departments to verify customer requirements, testing and installation. Coordinate with Field Operations and Sales as needed to facilitate delivery. May serve as primary internal point of contact for service delivery - Ideal candidate possesses working knowledge within DWDM; Fujitsu 9500; 4100; 4100ES; 4500;7120. CIENA 6500; 5400s; Corestream, Nortel classic oc192/48; Optera DX; 1600; Infinera DTN; DTN-x; Cisco 15454; 15310; Tellabs; Infineria; Lambda Unite, Alcatel and various Router / Frame / ATM support. - Experience working with software and hardware tools to remotely identify & diagnose transport problems. - Resolves complex network problems involving fiber, network hardware, test sets and carrier services. Has ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems. - Applies excellent customer service - Understand and apply standard trouble shooting techniques - Demonstrate proficiency with applications as well as other internal tools **Preferred Qualifications:** - Ability to work off hours. - Associate degree or 1 + years of related work experience. - Knowledge of SONET/SDH - Knowledge of Basic Ethernet - Knowledge of layer 1/2 OSI model - Experience with basic commands transport equipment. - Understanding of basic transport testing methodology. - Prefer 1+ year of technical transport experience.
