(U.S. 64)Central Consolidated Schools (also known as the Central Consolidated School District) is a public school district based in Shiprock, New Mexico, United States.
The district covers a 2,819-square-mile (7,300 km2) area[1] in western San Juan County. In addition to Shiprock, the district also serves the communities of Beclabito, Kirtland, Naschitti, Nenahnezad, Newcomb, Ojo Amarillo, Sanostee, Sheep Springs, Upper Fruitland as well as a portion of Crystal.
The elementary teacher provides guidance and instructional experience that is academically and developmentally appropriate for each student assigned to that classroom.
- Communicate accurately and effectively in the content area and maintain a professional relationship with students.
- Obtain feedback and communicate with students in a manner that enhances student learning and understanding.
- Develop a variety of teaching methods and resources for each area taught.
- Encourage student involvement, responsibility, and critical thinking skills.
- Create an atmosphere conducive to learning, self-discipline, and development of realistic and positive self-concepts.
- Develop and implement appropriate classroom management strategies while maintaining high expectations for student behavior to encourage cooperation among students.
- Communicate to students in a way that enhances learning, and includes demonstrating effective writing skills and use of Standard English.
- Adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of individual students.
- Manage time appropriately. Accessible to parents, students, administration, and peers outside the school day, as determined by supervisor.
- Prepare for instruction and show written evidence of preparation.
- Maintain accurate and complete records and report progress or lack thereof to parents in a timely manner.
- Leave adequate preparations for a substitute.
- Use appropriate techniques, strategies, and materials to achieve the desired instructional goal.
- Supervise educational assistants, student teachers and high school vocational lab students.
- Understand and incorporate the district and school’s Educational Plan for Student Success (EPSS) into the classroom.
- Develop and use community and professional resources.
- Comply with all Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, Public Education Department guidelines and local, state and federal laws.
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Valid New Mexico teaching license with endorsements as needed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- A new district teacher will have an Educational Plan for student success.
Physical/Job Requirements:
Standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying up to 50 pounds, climbing, bending, reaching, kneeling, driving a vehicle, traveling long distances, writing, typing, word processing, reading, researching information and effective communication skills.
