This Scientist position in our Biologics Cell Line Development group will be responsible for generating high-productivity mammalian cell lines. Reporting to the head of Cell Line Development, the successful candidate will focus on the development of mammalian cell lines in the production of monoclonal antibodies and other types of recombinant proteins, including fusion proteins, antibody drug conjugates, and bi-specific antibodies, for clinical and commercial manufacturing.
Responsibilities
* Perform key activities associated with production cell line development including transfection, selection, single cell cloning, high throughput screening, characterization of clonal cell lines using scale-down models, cell banking, and cell line stability studies. * Set up new CLD laboratories and develop key methods in CLD to enable in-house development capability of Biologics . * Develop and optimize new protein expression platforms including designing, constructing, and evaluating novel expression constructs and expression systems. * Host cell development including genetic engineering and media adaptation. * Perform and develop immunoassays to support cell line development. These may include ELISA, Octet assay, FAC analysis, and other required assays. * Understand IP landscape in novel technologies of molecular biology and CLD and develop corresponding IP strategies and ensure FTO. * Identify and manage CROs for outsourcing work. * Perform cell line genetic characterization using methods such as real-time PCR, Southern blot analysis, and NGS sequencing. * Work closely with other team members within the CLD group, upstream process development, purification process development, analytical and formulation development teams to support discovery and preclinical development activities. * Create written technical reports and presents data in project team meetings. * Supervise direct reports as the functional team grows.
Ideal Candidate
* PhD in Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering, or related life science discipline * 3-5 years of relevant industrial experience with a proven record of accomplishment * Hands-on experience with generating high producing mammalian cell lines is required. * Experience with DNA cloning, vector construction and design, and genetic characterization of production cell banks is required. Experience with NGS-based genomics is a plus. * Experience with high throughput immunological assays such as ELISA and Octet assay. * Demonstrated ability to think critically, contribute to experiment design, and excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills. * The candidate must be well organized and have excellent oral and written communication skills. * Must be able to perform well in a collaborative team- oriented and fast-paced environment to meet project timelines.
