Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is responsible and accountable for the application of the nursing process, supervision of clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, inter and intradepartmental liaison, education, leadership, and patient care management across the health care continuum from preventative, acute care through discharge.
Responsibilities
* A Nurse Practitioner's practice incorporates both independent decision making abilities and collaboration with the board certified/eligible physician to provide expert care to the patients. * The Nurse Practitioner is responsible to the medical director and the chief nursing officer (CNO) and functions as an integral part of the medical team. * The Nurse Practitioner practices under the Board of Registered Nursing California code of regulations, Title 16, Article 8, Section 1480-1485, utilizing the Nurse Practitioner Standardized Procedures. * These are developed in a collaborative effort within the area of specialty, department of Nursing and the Hospital Administration, incorporating CSHS goals and represent an interdisciplinary approach to patient care delivery. * The Nurse Practitioner provides individualized care upholding CSHS philosophies including but not limited to care consistent with Nursing standards of Care/Practice, the Plan for Provision of Nursing Care, and the Plan for Provision of Patient Care, the Performance Improvement Plan, the Patient Education Plan, the professional Organization Standards, Code of Conduct, and hospital and departmental policies and procedure. * She/he enhances competency skills through continuing education programs. * She/he demonstrates the ability to provide care to special patient population and those with diverse cultural background. * She/he performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to age and developmental milestones of the population (s) served which m may include neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric. * She/he is able to identify the ability of the age specific population served to follow direction/instructions and give consent. * She/he can identify safety concerns and institute measures to provide safe environment and provide appropriate assessment, intervention, and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental milestones in the population served.
Ideal Candidate
**Educational Requirements:** * ARNP in state * OCN or AOCN preferred within one year of service * Master of Science degree in nursing, preferred. * Certified FNP or ANP * Graduated from a nurse practitioner program * Prescriptive privileges in State of practice **Experience:** * Minimum two year's oncology nursing experience * Research experience, preferred **Physical Requirements:** * Normal physical requirements for routine administrative responsibilities carried out at a desk. **Qualification Requirements/Preferences:** * Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities
