Summary
The Product Developer position is the dedicated resource to support Cargill cutting edge innovation projects in edible oils area. The person will be supporting product development experiments to deliver new healthy oil solutions. This position will be supporting innovation projects; executes research focused on clean label, low saturated fat and non-hydro solutions; supports product development and commercialization; works in coordination with external and internal cross-functional technical teams; assesses utilities of emerging technology; and creates new products and system-based solutions.
Responsibilities
40% - Support product development opportunities based on consumer trends and customer needs. Support projects per study plan and instructions. Execute experiments and plant trials to deliver solutions. Report results and recommend solutions for peer and management review; support scale up and implement solutions onsite. 20% - Create new oil products and food ingredient system-based solutions. 20% - Conduct frying study with minimal supervision; collect and analyze data and issue reports. 10% - Conduct instrumental analyst following standard and official methods. 10% - Assist senior scientists on delegated tasks as well as any other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related discipline. * Minimum 2 years of Product Development experience. * Proven record of product development. * Proven ability to execute projects from planning to reporting with minimal supervision. * Strong knowledge of experimental design. * Strong knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). * Strong knowledge of Food Safety. * Effective interpersonal and team working skills. * Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written. * Microsoft Office Suite experience. * Ability to lift 35 pounds routinely. * Ability to travel up to 20% of the time. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Master’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or other related discipline. * Minimum 3 years Research and Development Food Industry experience. * Minimum 2 years in fats and oils product development. * Food Service experience. * Practical knowledge in fats and oils chemistry and processing. * Practical knowledge in frying and snack industry. * Project management. * Statistical design and analysis. * Innovative, independent thinker, and problem solving using multiple discipline. * Proven record of challenging status quo. * Demonstrated skills to communicate complex technology concepts with business and management teams.
