Summary
CARFAX is looking for a Systems Availability Engineer to join the MARS (Monitoring, Alerting, and Reporting Services) Infrastructure team. This team is responsible for monitoring, alerting, capacity planning, metrics and reporting pertaining to the infrastructure stability, SLA’s and end-user-experiences, all vital to the mission-critical operations and services of CARFAX. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years’ experience with implementing monitors and alerts on the various components of a Data Center, including the availability and performance of web Sites, web applications, transactions and services. Efficient analytical and problem solving skills are critical. This team is heavily involved with all infrastructure projects, the roll out of new products, services, and work very closely with Developers, Database, Server, and Networking engineers. Therefore, we would love a person who thrives on problem solving, technical and workflow improvements, provides top-notch customer service, enjoys researching new technologies and of course is fun to work with.
Responsibilities
* Ownership and management of the internal and external monitoring and alerting for the Infrastructure and Services * Extensive trouble shooting and re-engineering * Maintain Operational Dashboards * Availability and performance analysis * Administration of enterprise logging environment * On call for Data Center and Service outages * Capacity Planning * Metrics and reporting * Stay abreast of the latest technologies and tools utilized
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * 3-5 years utilizing enterprise monitoring and alerting tools; Zabbix, Elastic Stack, Truesight and Chef or comparable * Effective application of math and statistics * Demonstrated strong analytical skills * Detail oriented * Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems * Fundamental programming and scripting * MS-SQL and Oracle databases with some SQL or PL/SQL experience * Excellent interpersonal skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Highly self-motivated * Software Administration **Desirable Skills, Knowledge, and Experience** * FitNesse and/or test-driven development * Project Management * Capacity planning * Service Now or comparable ITSM Suit * Agile methodologies
