Network Engineer

CARFAX created the Vehicle History Report in 1986 and continues to develop innovative services – like CARFAX Used Car Listings and the myCarfax app, a virtual garage, that make it easier to buy, sell and own a used car. We maintain a database comprising over 14 billion vehicle history records from more than 92,000 sources worldwide, adding new sources, and more records, daily.
This position will join a team that is responsible for innovation, design, implementing and supporting a wide breadth of IT solutions for CARFAX.
- Maintain, monitor, and improve an established production level global IP network
- Perform routine network configuration requests in support of sys admin, development teams, and IT management.
- Work on project teams to provide tactical and strategic input on the future direction, planning and design of network and application enhancements.
- Rapidly respond to and troubleshoot system outages
- Provide accurate and creative solutions for development, operations and support teams.
- Create and maintain physical and logical network related documentation.
- Be available for 24/7 “on-call” issues and “off-hour” planned maintenance or installations.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Cisco experience installing, maintaining, securing, and monitoring local and wide area networks.
- 3+ years of hands on experience with a multi-location BIG-IP environment utilizing two or more of the following: GTM, LTM, AFM, APM, or ASM.
- Demonstrated ability to administer layer 3 and layer 2 switching, BGP, HSRP, EIGRP, port-channels, SIP, QoS and LAN/WAN standards.
- Solid understanding and working experience with Linux OS and global DNS
Desired Skills
- Experience with Cisco, F5, Sourcefire, Infoblox, Orion and Riverbed product offerings
- Supporting a Windows Active Directory environment.
- Network management and protocol analysis tools.
- Administration of enterprise firewalls and VPN’s.
- Technical knowledge of virtual infrastructure with VMware experience and SAN environments.
- Effectively communicate technical information to both technical and nontechnical corporate staff
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift and move equipment in and out of computer room racks as well as maneuver under counters and through ladder racks to run cables.
