Summary
CARFAX is looking for a skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our Enterprise Systems Engineering team. This team is responsible for administering the thousands of servers and systems across the CARFAX enterprise, as well as delivering new server and system capabilities to meet business goals. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of large-scale Linux Server Administration along with designing and delivering an ETL & BI environments, with a special emphasis on Informatica, or other commercial ETL solutions. This individual will work as part of a team to support the Business Intelligence and Advanced Analytic needs of the company.
Responsibilities
The role of the Linux System Engineer will be to design, build, and maintain various parts of the data warehousing and reporting infrastructure, including requirements gathering, ETL system development, and infrastructure support. This role will expose the engineer to a large and varied set of technologies and tools, but primary responsibilities will focus on those that support the BI and analytic needs of the business. * Become an expert in our “stack” technologies including Informatica, Paraccel, Oracle, MongoDB, Hadoop, CouchBase, Cassandra, and a variety of hardware and software platforms * Maintain and extend internal ETL systems * Design and build new systems, capabilities, and technologies * Identify ways to improve system monitoring and disaster recovery * Quickly learn new APIs, schemas, protocols, and documentation * Collaborate with a great team, local and international * Dream up new features to delight users and improve internal processes
Ideal Candidate
* BS in Computer Science or related field * Hands-on Linux Server Administration system design and development experience * 2+ Linux Server Administration, Informatica, or equivalent commercial ETL system experience required * 2+ years with Linux, shell; installing, compiling, updating software/packages * Familiarity with Database management (MySQL, Oracle, Postgres) * Excitement for teamwork and cross-stack learning * Ability to carry out assigned tasks with limited need for supervision * The ability to work in a fast, agile and nimble environment with frequent change * Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills * Passion for accuracy and performance
