Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor is responsible for establishing a safe work environment and ensuring delivery of quality products as outlined in the production schedule within standard cost. This is accomplished by motivating and directing the activities of hourly personnel and working with operations support team members to ensure customer service levels and quality expectations are met. The Supervisor needs to drive the continuous improvement efforts and promote pride, respect, and teamwork. Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and will report directly to the Production Manager.

* The Supervisor needs to be highly motivated and energetic to drive their team towards being a self-directed workforce. They lead the coordination of activities with team members to support company objectives and monitor performance goals taking corrective action, as appropriate. * The Supervisor must support the mill's journey of continuous improvement. They must be able to learn, understand, and teach the Lean tools being utilized. Previous Lean experience is a plus. * Supports the Mill Safety Program completely. The Supervisor must be fully involved in the safety culture and drive the team towards an incident free workplace. * Ensures the timely completion of the production schedule while meeting or exceeding target productivity and cost metrics * The Supervisor is responsible for all personnel activities consisting of training, reviews, scheduling, etc. The Supervisor must also understand and enforce all company rules and organizational policies. * The Supervisor is directly responsible for the quality of product made on their shift. * Comply in all respects with the provisions of the Caraustar Standards of Business Conduct Policy required.

* 5+ years’ supervisory experience in manufacturing industry. Union environment preferred. * Knowledge of production equipment and a mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot problems effectively * Ability to assess quality of product being produced * Ability to coordinate multiple tasks in order to meet production demands * Proficient with Microsoft Office programs * Ability to effectively manage people; excellent communication skills a must.
