Senior Associate Copywriter

Capital One Financial Corporation, incorporated in July 21, 1994, is a diversified banking company focused primarily on consumer and commercial lending and deposit origination. Its principal business segments are Local Banking and National Lending.

• We’re looking for a copywriter with advertising and marketing experience—and a portfolio to back it up.

• The ideal candidate should be well versed in direct response marketing, including direct mail and email. But we’d love to see your other digital, print and social media work, too.

• You’re a problem solver—conceptual thinking and strategic problem solving are key.

• You’re a team player who readily collaborates with all types of people, including art directors, creative directors, brand strategists and clients.

• You’re equally comfortable writing a clever headline as you are writing longer copy

• You have a clear understanding of tone and the ability to adapt your writing style based on the message and your intended audience.

• You understand the importance of creative strategy, use it to create powerful work, and can clearly present it to others for buy-in.

• You have positive outlook and attitude.

• You consistently deliver quality work, on time, with exceptional attention to detail.

• If you have experience working with clients in highly regulated industries like banking, or experience working in an Agile process framework, that’s an added bonus!

Basic Qualifications:

• High school diploma, GED, equivalent certification or military experience
• At least 3 years of copywriting experience in an advertising agency or 3 years of copywriting experience at an in-house creative department

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Communication or Journalism
• 5 years of copywriting experience in an advertising agency or 5 years of copywriting experience at an in-house creative department
