Summary
Canon Healthcare Optics Research Laboratory is a young organization that is gaining momentum. We are collaborating with Harvard affiliated, world class hospitals in Boston area to create high impact medical products. The Sr. Electrical Engineer will engage in designing and implementing the key electrical units and systems of medical optical imaging devices from initial concept through to commercialization in collaboration with world’s leading medical institutions.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for design, analysis, fabrication, testing and documentation of key electrical systems, units and components used in prototype and clinical systems. * Provide electrical specifications for prototype system from the required functional specifications. * Lead the electrical design and development by optimizing the design of prototypes and selecting the best components to meet medical device requirements. The design will incorporate, motor control, optical sensors and units, data acquisition and processing units. * Design and develop efficient and cost-effective AC-DC power systems assuring designs meet customer and regulatory specifications. * Design work will include circuit design, schematics, board layout and prototype testing. * Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analysis and testing on new and improved designs. * Perform root cause analysis and provide a risk assessment of designs in consideration of preclinical and clinical testing of the prototype. * Provide documentation of electrical specifications and analysis results for prototypes. * Provide documentation of inventions for patent applications. * Review alternative technology IP as it relates to the design process.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience Required: 5+ years of experience with the design and analysis of proof of concept systems or prototypes of medical device systems. * MSEE preferred, BSEE acceptable with relevant experience. * Experience of designing in conformance to 60601-1 standards. * Ability to quickly model control systems using Simulink or similar. * Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly to others in different functions, at various levels. * Experienced with circuit design for microprocessor/microcontroller based systems, schematics, board layout and prototype testing. * Experienced with OrCad electronics design tool or similar. * Experience with EMC and ESD testing.
