- The paraprofessional reports to and is supervised by the Special Needs teacher, he/she is primary responsible for assisting in the implementation of each student’s individualized Educational Plan (IEP).

In addition, the paraprofessional will:
- provide assistance with instruction for special needs students assigned to a self-contained or integrated to a mainstream class;
- supervise special needs students during non-instructional activities;
- supervise the students while moving to and from classes as well as into and our of school buildings;
- perform related duties as may be designated by the Special Needs teacher.
- Toileting of students is a duty that an individual may be expected and required to perform as a paraprofessional employed by the Cambridge Public Schools.
- Associates degree, or 48 college credits, or otherwise meet NCLB highly qualified status.
- Experience and interest in dealing with the development needs of special needs students.
- Candidates must be energetic and enthusiastic, as well as, patient and understanding.
- Candidates must be flexible enough to work cooperatively with the school-based team in addressing the physical, education, and social-emotional needs of the students.
