Summary
The California Academy of Sciences is seeking an experienced and highly motivated ITS project manager to lead the planning, execution, coordination, and communication of key IT initiatives, including platform migration projects and large scale technology infrastructure projects. The Academy is an innovative, forward-thinking organization working to both create exciting visitor experiences and to make a large scale impact on the most pressing issues of our time. We in the Technology Group push the limits of our technology portfolio in order to meet the challenge of supporting the Academy’s important mission. The ITS Project Manager will report to the PMO Manager, and will work closely with the Associate Director of Information Technology Services.
Responsibilities
The ITS Project Manager will: * Be responsible for managing IT projects from inception to launch, ensuring they are successfully delivered on time, on budget, to the required quality, and within scope. * Gather goals and objectives from both large and small stakeholder groups, and transform them into a clear set of project requirements. * Participate in steering committees and task forces to drive direction and progress for IT development needs. * Collaborate with IT team to determine the resources, budget, and timeline needed to achieve project goals, and tracks and manages all three throughout project life cycle. * Investigate new methodologies and technologies that may improve the effectiveness of enterprise applications. * Manage communication, expectations, and prioritization with a wide variety of stakeholders, successfully balancing stakeholder satisfaction with team and business needs. * Use leadership skills to drive projects to launch through coordination and collaboration with development team. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. * Ensure consistency and transparency across all projects, using standard processes, tools and templates * Develop and deliver progress reports, requirements documentation, and presentations as needed. * Help identify blockers and potential risks, and develops escalation and mitigation plans. * Leverage extensive experience, resourcefulness, and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Education and/or Experience:** * BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or commensurate experience * 3+ years project/program management experience executing large IT projects with many parts and stakeholders * Must be familiar with platform migration projects and technology infrastructure, from cloud solutions to telecommunications * PM-related certification preferred **Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Outstanding organizational skills and ability to multi-task efficiently * Ability to manage multiple issues and/or projects in various stages * Must be capable of working effectively with a variety of people, from executives to system administrators * Ability to build consensus and negotiate agreement around complex issues amongst a diverse group of stakeholders * Must possess a desire to help the business community succeed * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills **Language Skills:** * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. * Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. * Ability to speak effectively before groups or individuals. **Physical Demands & Work Environment:** * The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
