Duties and Responsibilities: Long Summary This is a full performance level position work within the Surge Logistics Support occupational specialty with officers generally located in various Directorates, Components and Staffs throughout. At the full performance level, incumbents work independently with minimal supervision and are responsible for assisting with the purchase of materials and services for area of assignment; coordinating and administering processes for the transportation of material and people; maintaining inventories of goods and materials for area of assignment; coordinating with Facilities Management in the implementing of office moves, renovations, and maintenance. Based on assignment, incumbents may serve as team leaders or first-line supervisors to other contractors; prioritizing and delegating other contractors' work assignments, providing technical direction and guidance to other contractors. Based on assignment, incumbents may assist Contracting Officer Technical Representative in a full range of contracting activities in coordination with contracting officer. Short Summary Provide Surge Logistics Support services to mission partners worldwide on a Temporary Duty (TDY) or Permanent Change of Station (PCS) basis. Perform property control functions, assist in the procurement of supplies and material, ship documents or material, manage vehicle fleet, assist with movement of office furniture/equipment, perform office Project Management functions, perform General Support Services, and perform Warehouse/Transportation functions. Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities The Surge Logistics Officers discipline is highly diverse and Duties/Tasks and Responsibilities described below are dependent on the office of assignment. 1. Assist with purchasing of materials and services within area of assignment to include: - Ordering materials through a variety of internal and external sources; validating customer requirements against regulations and estimates costs. - Tracking credit card and account for purchases. - Reconciling routine to moderately complex financial statements to ensure expenses are properly recorded; reconciling accounts payable to ensure accuracy and funding availability; reviewing bills/invoices for accuracy; and resolving discrepancies with vendors. 2. Coordinate the process for transportation of material and people. - Coordinates the transportation of goods through established transportation processes; arranges for transportation of material; coordinates shipment and receipt of materials; using established guidelines where possible, determines best shipping method based on customer, cargo type and consignee requirements. - Responds to courier and chauffeur requests; resolves scheduling problems. 3. Maintain inventories of goods and materials for area of assignment. - Processes inventory requests and validates receipt of goods and materials against requirements; ensures inventory requests are fulfilled. - Coordinates the maintenance of a fleet of vehicles by maintaining table of vehicular allowances and tracking database; ensures vehicles are maintained. - Performs property accounting; plans and conducts property inventory and reconciles property discrepancies. 4. Coordinate with Facilities Management in the implementation of office moves, renovations, and maintenance. - Implements office moves; establishes schedules and procedures; ensures proper numbers of staff are available. - Assists Facilities Management in office renovations by serving as a liaison to customers and construction workers. - Schedules routine office maintenance; works with Facilities Management to ensure offices are properly maintained. - If assigned to the NRO, coordinates with Facilities Management and Communications to relocate computer connections and phones. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications** Experience: Successful completion of a 4 years progressively responsible work experience comparable at the developmental level in a logistical assignment. Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent. Special certifications: None **Required Qualifications:** Typically requires high school diploma or equivalent, and four to five years of related experience. Must be able to operate wide variety of material handling equipments (MHE). Must have an active TS/SCI Polygraph clearance. **Desired Qualifications:** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to handle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, crouch or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more.
