Responsibilities
The Editorial Development Coordinator is vital to ensure the overall quality of Newsday's digital platforms by assisting in the planning and testing of new features. The ideal candidate possesses equal enthusiasm for technology and journalism. Test new features under development for Newsday’s digital platforms (web and app). Collaborate with developers and newsroom team to plan new features, projects. Act as a liaison between QA team and newsroom. Quality control of content produced daily as well as special projects. Stay abreast of industry developments, recommend improvements to site and producer workflow. Run the homepage and all subsections of newsday.com. Troubleshoot, report technical issues.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field. For internal candidates applying for other opportunities within the organization, the minimum educational requirement for college is strongly preferred but not required depending on relevant Cablevision work experience. * Three years of newsroom web producing experience * Extraordinary attention to detail * Digital savvy with an understanding of project development cycles * Familiarity with web markup languages; knowledge of programming languages a plus * Commitment to a high standard of journalism, strong news judgment * Ability to handle multiple priorities in a deadline driven and breaking news environment * Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills * Knowledge of Newsday and Cablevision media products a plus
