Summary
The Broadband Data Network Engineer role will work closely with the Broadband Engineering Manager, Broadband Engineering colleagues, and other departments. Potential resources should reflect a basic understanding of IP technologies, Layer 2 and Layer 3 transport and WiFi.

Works closely with Outside Plant (OSP) resources and completes Service Inquiry documents relative to engineering critical information and does so in a timely fashion. * Acts as a liaison between Commercial Sales and Broadband Network Engineering in an effort to ensure the customers’ expectations are exceeded. * Perform additional duties as assigned. 2. Ideal Candidate
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: * Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent experience required. 5 Years work experience in the telecommunications and/or data industry. Working knowledge of Layer 2 transport and IP connectivity. Demonstrated knowledge of the benefits of WiFi technology and its short-comings. Working knowledge of TDM architecture is a plus. Prior history working directly with customers is preferred. Prior history working with Sales is also preferred. Network + and/or CCNA level certification desired. Excellent personal computer skills are required with emphasis in Windows, Excel, and Word. Broad experience with vendor equipment and products is preferred, including but not limited to: Cisco Systems, Adtran, Juniper, Nortel, Fujitsu, Adtran – Blue Socket, Aerohive, Occam-Calix. Experience with Netcracker software suites desirable. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and use computer keyboard and/or mouse, while viewing computer screen.
