Summary
We are looking for a Business Analyst to join our Global Forwarding application development team. This position is a key interface between the global forwarding business and IT groups, working to leverage technology to create a competitive advantage. You will be responsible for partnering with the business to document key processes, analyze and define system needs, gather and create functional requirements, lead the requirements through software development life-cycle process, ensure the system meets the required specification, and guide the business through use of existing and future technology solutions. Successful applicants will have at least 3 years’ experience in information technology with 1 plus years as a business analyst managing the delivery of information technology solutions. The global forwarding application development team is responsible for designing and developing operational systems for the global forwarding business lines. We are responsible for the development of full suite of products and services used by our business partners to manage their day-to-day transportation needs. Our applications are considered critical and vital to C.H. Robinson’s worldwide forwarding operations and its continued growth and success.
Responsibilities
* Perform business process analysis activities; analyzing and identifying technical solutions to generate business process efficiencies * Collaborate with IT team members to determine technical solutions that utilize knowledge of current systems, technology and business requirements and include cost/benefit analysis, process changes, team dependencies and timelines and risk to each approach * Work with business to agree upon and prioritize the best technical solution * Establish scope and effectively manage project scope utilizing change control processes * Document business requirements, translate the requirements into use cases and process flows * Work with developers to translate requirements to system design * Serve as a liaison to other application development teams in planning, coordination, development and deployment of multi-team projects * Serve as a liaison for QA to create test plans, test cases and do functional testing as needed * Actively participates in, and sometimes may be assigned to coordinate, the user acceptance testing, defect and issue tracking processes related to the application software * Address issues and mitigate risks, communicate status to business, IT Management and other IT teams that are impacted by the project
Ideal Candidate
**Required Qualifications:** * Self-starter and quick learner – must be able to work under minimal supervision * Strong facilitator; adept at running meetings with business and technical, gathering and managing business requirements, and balancing priorities * Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals * Proactively maintain an understanding of the client's business practices and deconstruct these goals into developable user stories/requirements. * Passion to provide innovative ideas and solutions in an ever-changing environment * Possess solid communication skills and a strong customer focus * Must exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to give effective presentations * Have a proven ability and willingness to quickly learn new custom enterprise applications * Demonstrated success in the development and delivery of information technology solutions * Experience in participating in development projects with a proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities * Must demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, negotiation, facilitation, consulting, problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills * Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools * At least 3 years of experience in information technology with 1 plus years as a Business Analyst managing the delivery of information technology solutions **Preferred Qualifications:** * Knowledge of global forwarding business is a plus * Knowledge of transportation management systems is a plus * Experience with Scrum or other Agile methodologies is a plus * Proficient in Visio **Required Education:** Undergraduate degree in business administration, computer science, software engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
