Responsibilities
  • Produce new 3D models and refine existing models using SolidWorks, designing for plastics molding, manufacturing, and assembly
  • Translate engineering data into drawings and models for new and sustaining personal protective equipment products and other life-saving devices
  • Support the design and development of tools, fixtures, and other equipment to support Manufacturing and Testing
  • As outlined in the Bullard Development Process (BDP), collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Operations Services teams, along with the rest of Product Development, to develop new and enhance legacy products that meet product specifications Detail 3D models, prepare and archive final drawing packages for vendors
  • Provide technical documentation and SolidWorks design and administration support to the Product Development team
  • Properly document, archive, and release drawings per Bullard policy
  • Train other SolidWorks users in our facility
  • Help manage internal 3D printing machines by packaging and queuing models
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of departmental standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, or equivalent Certified SolidWorks Professional
  • 3+ years of experience in design and development using Solid Works or other 3D parametric modeling software
  • (Preferred) 3+ years of experience designing for injection molding of plastic components
  • Ability to produce high-quality, complex-surface 3D models within SolidWorks
  • (Preferred) Understanding of NIOSH, NFPA, ANSI, ISO standards
  • Evaluate and create Design Failure Mode Effects Analyses (DFMEAs) and Process Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEA)
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills with attention to detail while not losing sight of the big picture and meeting deadlines
  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work respectfully with others in a collaborative and fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility in the face of shifting priorities; ability to independently prioritize work and respond to a fluctuating workload while meeting deadlines and maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Desire to adapt to changing technologies and learn on the job
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to explain complex ideas to less technical people
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and motivated problem solver who is proactive in identifying, owning, and solving problems
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD+T)
  • Understanding of product development processes and experienced in manufacturing processes
  • Good understanding of materials, technology, and manufacturing processes of engineering polymers (Preferred) Demonstrated portfolio
