Summary
Generates CATV system design in the most cost effective manner while meeting Bright House Networks and the department’s standards and specifications.
Responsibilities
* Design complex extensions and complete small system redesigns, in accordance with the appropriate design specifications. * Utilizing PC design software programs to complete forward & reverse system “RF” design work. * Utilize PC CAD software programs to post strand mapping data, in accordance with the BHN standards and specifications. * Utilize PC CAD software programs to complete large Fiber Designs, in accordance with the BHN standards and specifications. * Utilize PC CAD software programs to post Fiber Designs, in accordance with the BHN standards and specifications. * Process engineering change orders to ensure that all related work is complete and accurate and that all related documentation is acquired and routed properly. * Perform quality control checks on field mapping notes and/or map digitizing received from others to ensure that all drafting specifications and “RF” design specifications have been met. * Add up footages that are associated with field mapping notes, digitizing routing maps, and design maps while differentiating between aerial and underground plant as required. * Provide necessary information to construction or maintenance personnel, on a timely basis, including strand maps, design maps and BOM’s or digital files of the same. * Make copies of system prints or engineering documents as required. * Maintain digital plotter, engineering copier and other departmental equipment. * Complete special projects as assigned. * Utilizing PC design software programs along with manual calculations to complete forward and reverse system “RF” design work and powering after design. * Perform quality control checks on field mapping notes, map digitizing and/or design received from others to ensure that all drafting and “RF” design and powering specifications have been met. * Complete presentation graphics utilizing a PC based software program. * Contribute to project coordination by maintaining associated records, processing related invoices and providing reports as necessary. * Maintain back-ups Design Department’s servers. * Provide training to Designer I & II personnel with regard to design computer programs and Design department procedures and specifications. * Build and/or critique design profiles to ensure that all specifications have been entered properly and that all program generated design outputs are complete and accurate. * Design and digitize hub, node and ring fiber layouts. * Make basic computations to determine scale, layout and accurate placement of new land base information. * Assist with trouble shooting of system fiber problems. * Create basic Fiber Splicing Matrixes for projects. * Have ability to manually calculate link loss. * All other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* This position requires a high school education or equivalent. * College level math (algebra, trigonometry, calculus) or demonstrated analytical ability.
