Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

At Giro we believe everything deserves great design. As a Product Graphic Designer for Giro Sport Design, you'll work closely with our Creative Services Director and design team to execute original, category specific concepts that clearly express the Giro culture through multiple platforms of design. You are an action oriented free thinker who is inspired by art and life outside of our industry yet you love to ride and have the ability to filter these inspirations and passions through the Giro design language to produce unique, market appropriate content.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

You will be focused on, but not restricted to, projects such as cycling and snow helmet graphics, snow goggle graphics, seasonal branding executions, pencil to paper illustration, seasonal trending for pattern color and mood and other compelling projects. You must be detail oriented and a committed team member who encourages collaboration when working with fellow designers and international production teams. You will create original designs that span the spectrum from simple color blocking to intricate and artistic graphic expressions. You will execute the production work needed to get the digital files ready for our vendors and create clear, detailed, error free technical packages. You will manage multiple design projects (your own and from contracted creative) from the initial brief through to the final hand-off and will be responsible for executing these projects on time and within budget. You will create the Visual Line Plans (VLP) and manage timely updates throughout the design process. You will work with upper management on concepts and designs for co–lab projects. Domestic and International travel is required to attend design/market events, trade shows, and factory visits

Ideal Candidate

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design or 4+ years equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency with Macintosh OSX environment as well as with Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Advanced proficiency with Adobe design platforms. Emphasis on Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • A portfolio of work that clearly demonstrates creativity, originality, problem solving and process.
  • Strong understanding of the Action Sports Industry, the Giro customer and our competitors.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear knowledge of graphic design skills that do not rely solely on the computer. These skills include sketching and drawing, brainstorming, typography, use of scale and color and overall layout intuition.
  • Strong time management skills; the ability to not only manage workflow across multiple seasons and categories, but to own design direction and to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly organized.
  • Ability to work as a team player with a diverse group of people and personalities.
  • Ability to effectively take design direction, possess the ability to handle constructive criticism.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and a pro-active attitude.
  • Experience with action sports industry a plus.

Working Conditions

Domestic and International travel is required to attend design/market events, trade shows, and factory visits.
