The Bio-ASIC group works at the interface of microelectronics and molecular biology with the goal of dramatically improving immunoassays, biosensors, and point-of-care platforms. A general, well-rounded interest in technology development is essential. We seek individuals who are exceptional in their field, are broadly knowledgeable in surrounding fields, are willing to deeply explore new areas, and are strongly motivated to push new technologies out to a commercial environment.
The ideal candidate is a skilled bench researcher with a proven track record of scientific accomplishment in the literature, and strong electrochemical and biochemical expertise. Major responsibilities include:
- Take a leading role in evolving the electrochemistry of the Bio-ASIC platform
- Independently execute experimental designs and trouble-shoot the development, qualification and validation of different types of functional assays
- Proactively conceive and develop new applications of the Bio-ASIC platform
- Scout and implement new technologies relevant to the Bio-ASIC platform
- Present results internally and at scientific conferences
- PhD in a relevant technical field (echem, biochem, bioeng, mat sci etc.)
- Expert knowledge of electrochemical analysis techniques
- Comprehensive understanding of electrode interfaces, kinetics, diffusion, etc.
- Experience with a variety of electrode materials, and modifications thereof to modulate function.
- Clear understanding of physical and surface chemistry of biochemical assay processes as well as experience in assay optimization
- Strongly prefer candidates with fluent biochemistry skills (hands-on experience with protein- and/or DNA-assay development)
- Prefer experience using COMSOL or similar; coding/scripting a bonus
- Proficient with data analysis, interpretation, and presentation
