Summary
We are looking for a Director of Data Science with extensive experience in Statistical Modeling and Optimization methods with a minimum experience of 8-10 years working in supply chain, retail or related areas of data science. The person in this role will define the long term data science roadmap at Boomerang – drive adoption of best practices in data science and provide vision to bring in the latest developments in statistical modeling, optimization techniques and machine learning methods to build or improve Boomerang’s price optimization products.
Responsibilities
* Develop, lead and mentor a world-class team of data scientists and data engineers. * Research and develop advanced statistical models to model demand and other supply chain variables based on large time series datasets originating from retail supply chains * Research and leverage optimization techniques for online dynamic pricing problems * Design experiments for A/B testing and define best practices and design diagnostics to monitor performance for online experiments * Have the foresight to develop algorithmic solutions by balancing trade-offs between complexity and practical applicability.
Ideal Candidate
**What you need to succeed** * Ph.D. in Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering or a related field with at least 8-10 years experience. * Familiarity with statistical modeling and machine learning tools in R and Python * Knowledge of large-scale optimization methods, convex optimization, mixed integer programming, etc. * Familiarity with modern machine learning methods for regression and classification * Knowledge of experimental design, A/B testing and general statistical modeling * Working knowledge of Relational Database Systems and SQL. * Ability to communicate complex qualitative analysis in clear and precise manner. * Readiness to work and multitask in a fast startup environment. **Desired skills** * Familiarity with optimization methods for revenue management & price optimization is preferred. * Experience in statistical modeling in R and/or experience with commercial solvers like CPLEX or Gurobi is a plus. * A good understanding analysis of algorithms and computational complexity is desirable. * Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects and developing solutions.
