Summary
The Teller Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the teller area and provides general supervision with an emphasis on client experience, adherence to policy and procedure, and identifying opportunities to generate referrals to specialists that can offer financial solutions to the client based on need. The Teller Supervisor also personally assists clients and prospects with their transactional and service needs while identifying opportunities to generate referrals. Individuals will provide exemplary levels of client experience while following all policy/procedure and pre-established authority levels. May oversee the daily operations of teller area detached from the main banking center.
Responsibilities
- Models the highest level of client experience when welcoming clients to the bank, processing their transactions, assisting them with additional service needs, and when assisting other tellers with complex transactions. Assists Banking Center Management with ensuring exemplary levels of client experience in the teller area. Continually provides client experience leadership for other tellers. - Performs a variety of teller transactions (i.e., processes deposits and loan payments, cashes checks, processes checking and savings account withdrawals, assists with complex transactions, and balances within standards, etc.) while engaging clients to uncover additional financial needs and referring them to proper banking center/bank staff for further consultation. - Actively solicits new business through referrals; refers Bank products and services to new and existing clients by identifying needs and opportunities; answers questions and makes suggestions to meet the client’s financial needs. Contributes to branch profitability by leading the teller referral process through coaching and utilization of sales leadership techniques. Meets or exceeds established individual goals for made and closed referrals. Educates new and existing clients about bank services that provide additional convenience such as online banking, BillPay, E-Statements, and mobile and ATM deposit capabilities. - Achieves corporate standard for controllable losses. Assists branch management with monthly surprise teller audits; reports and researches teller outages, oversees branch cash vault management; approves teller transactions within pre-established levels of authority; assists other tellers with balancing or transaction processing related issues, also assists Branch Management with other operations/compliance needs as appropriate.
Ideal Candidate
- Excellent client service/communication skills both in person and via telephone; ability to gain information from individuals/customers by asking appropriate questions - Working knowledge of financial products and services - Excellent math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) - Strong PC and 10 key skills - Detail oriented, high degree of accuracy (ability to count and make accurate change transactions) - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment & under pressure as needed - Ability to make sound decisions including on-the-spot decisions regarding customer transactions; weighing customer satisfaction issues with the Bank’s exposure to loss or fraud and the ability to think through and rationalize decisions - Thorough knowledge of teller operations and procedures - Ability to train and motivate others * This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of high school or equivalent and a minimum of 1-4 years teller operations experience and a minimum of 1 year supervisory experience.
