Senior UX/UI Designer

Blinds.com, based in Houston, Texas, is the largest online seller of blinds.

We are looking for an experienced UX Designer who is ready to take a leap into unknown waters. The UX Designer acts as the user-advocate during the development process, designing solutions and offering suggestions from a user-first perspective. The UX Designer is responsible for the visual appearance and user interface of our new hybrid mobile app. While UX/UI is their main focus, the UX Designer is daily collaborating with the development team. Of course, similar to a start-up, the UX Designer is able to take on all sorts of small side projects, be it landing pages or print pieces.

• Design elegant solutions to complex workflows.
• Create an experience people will want to use.
• Lead a collaborative effort to design the visual appearance of all new features and enhancements on our hybrid mobile app.
• Work hand-in-hand with IT Team to implement solutions for hybrid mobile app experience.
• Represent the user-centered perspective during the development process.
• Develop storyboards, wire frames, sitemaps, user flows and clickable prototypes.
• Take on small side projects including but not limited to: illustrations, print pieces, presentation collateral and infographics.

• Professional experience creating unique, persuasive Web sites with tools like Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Experience designing and coding responsive mobile first Web sites, using HTML5 and CSS.
• Experience with hybrid frameworks (Ionic, PhoneGap, React Native, Ratchet etc.) a strong plus
• Strong JavaScript development skills a plus
• Familiarity with one or more server-side stacks (.NET, Node.js, Python, Java, PHP etc.) a plus
• Experience working with development teams engaged in delivering rich web and mobile app experiences
• Very “web-savvy” and up-to-date with developing mobile trends, tools and methods.
• Experience of A/B and multivariate testing a plus.
• A portfolio of mobile websites and apps. Be able to speak to success metrics and how the mobile websites/app(s) performed.
• BA/BS or equivalent experience in applicable field.
