Summary
The integral services rendered by the Assistant Director of Construction are strategic to our goals to diversify our presence in distinct residential multi-family and commercial property markets throughout the United States. Performance outcomes are targeted toward and contribute to our long-term growth and profitability. The Assistant Director of Construction will operate out of the Michigan Corporate Offices, and be involved with overseeing various types of construction, including commercial and residential (both single and multi-family) projects in Florida, Arizona, Washington D.C., and other states around the country. Periodic travel may be required.
Responsibilities
The scope of responsibilities include: * Conferring with owners, supervisory personnel, contractors, design professionals and others to identify and resolve construction related issues. * Planning, scheduling and coordinating all phases of construction projects to ensure compliance with budgets and deadlines. Key activities include determining construction methods based upon job specifications, preparing cost estimates, project schedules managing the site utilization plans and more. * Applying value engineering methodologies to construction projects to ensure various options are given thorough considerations. * Overseeing the bid management process with local subcontractors. * Preparing, submitting and continuously monitoring schedules, budgets, progress reports, and/or cost tracking reports; * Preparing and/or negotiating contracts and revisions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, or subcontractors. * Developing and implementing quality control programs.
Ideal Candidate
Applicants with the following credentials will be considered for this unique opportunity: * A college degree from an accredited university is required. * Applicants with established sub-contractor relationships in Michigan and Florida are also preferred. * Must have built low and mid-rise housing projects in various markets around the country. * A minimum of 10 years of experience with fieldwork and project manager experience. * Must be familiar with overseeing all aspects of construction including field supervision, site work, bidding, permitting, contracts and certificate of occupancy process; * Ability to communicate effectively with diverse team members from all levels of the corporation; * Superb quantitative and analytical skills. * Associations with professional real estate and builder organizations.
