Responsibilities
Support County business processes and technology infrastructure by providing complex administration and engineering of the Local Area Network, Wide Area Network, Wireless Networks and associated systems and security environment. POSITION SUMMARY & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: MFA: Network Environment Design and Maintenance Essential Duties: * Network systems and security implementation and administration, router, firewall, managed switched and wireless controller configuration management and security design. * Design and maintain LAN/WAN hardware, including firewalls, routers, switches, controllers, access points and related interconnection devices. * Design and maintain physical infrastructure, including wiring and fiber optic plant. * Document network infrastructure and its related device configurations and enabled features. * Ensure reliability and availability of network infrastructure by providing redundancy and survivability where appropriate and whenever possible. * Monitor network performance, health and security. Monitors and manages network infrastructure to ensure adherence to service level agreements. * Patch management testing and implementation, configuration management and backups. * Analyzes and resolves problems in order to meet end-user computing requirements. MFA: Network Security Essential Duties: * Design and administer County network infrastructure with layered security. * Constantly monitor and maintain firewall rules, access control lists, logging and filtering. * Maintain security log, password register, change management and other documentation related to information security. Document changes in a log format for tracking purposes. * Ensure compliance with industry standards to safeguard confidential information. * Prepare network related statistics, reports, and performance indicators. Detail security incident responses. Make suggestions for improving security of County business processes. * Stay abreast of changes in industry standards for network information security and implement best practices. MFA: Systems Operational Support Essential Duties: * Design, plan and maintain backup infrastructure and process to provide highest levels of Information Assurance. * Provide network performance evaluation and security design for County servers and systems, not limited to but including: Ad-hoc networking, VLAN, DMZ, virtual chassis network design and performance evaluation. * Evaluate enterprise-wide hardware for network use, not limited to but including: NICs, Wi-Fi adapters, network transceivers, fiber optic and analog modems and cellular data devices. MFA: Direct User Support Essential Duties: * Troubleshoot user problems. Identify solutions, workarounds or alternate processes for users. * Document requests for assistance, work to ensure timely resolution and to build knowledge base. Track time against projects when appropriate. Follow up on outstanding issues and communicate with requester through completion. * Provide on-call support as a call-in resource in accordance with detailed department policies. MFA: Telecommunications Essential Duties: * Design and maintain County voice system hardware including but not limited to: Desk phones, TDM and VOIP, PBX, voicemail server, firewalls, routers, switches, digital remote units, fiber optic equipment and DSL/T1 devices. * Design and maintain physical wired and fiber optic infrastructure. * Manage telecomm vendor contracted by the County to manage, move, add, change requests, PBX and VOIP system design, security and maintenance. * Ensure reliability and availability of voice infrastructure by providing redundancy and survivability where appropriate whenever possible. * Stay abreast of changes in industry standards for telephony and seek out opportunities for modernization and integration with network infrastructure. Implement best practices for security.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university related to Information Technology. * At least 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in the area of assignment. * Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience that demonstrates a candidate is able to perform the essential functions of the position. * Must possess, or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Oregon driver's license with an acceptable driving record. May require use of a personal vehicle. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in Cisco IOS, Airwatch, NEC, MDM, VIOP, PRTG, Project Management, Business Analysis.
Compensation and Working Conditions
Monthly Pay $4,541 - $6,814
