About Bellevue School District
We serve most of the city of Bellevue, WA and the smaller surrounding communities of Clyde Hill, Medina, Hunts Point, Yarrow Point and Beaux Arts. We also serve portions of Issaquah, Kirkland, Newcastle, Redmond and unincorporated King County. Our schools include: 15 regular elementary schools, 1 Spanish Immersion elementary school, 1 Mandarin dual language elementary school, 5 regular middle schools, 4 regular high schools and 2 alternative middle/high schools.
Responsibilities
Under broad supervision the position performs sub-journey level mechanic’s tasks; and under direct supervision performs journey level mechanic’s duties. - Performs cyclic preventive maintenance inspection, lube and servicing of all district vehicles. - Makes minor engine and chasses repairs, and reports all major defects to the immediate supervisor. - Assists journey level mechanics in performance of major repairs. - Services, changes and repairs tires. - Assists in cleaning and organizing of the shop and other vehicle maintenance facilities. - Attends meetings and training for professional development. - Performs other related duties as required. - Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations. - Performs all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies, District and legal requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- High school graduate or GED equivalent and vocational automotive mechanic training certificate. - Practical experience in the automotive or heavy-duty vehicle mechanical industry may be substituted for vocational mechanical training. - Must be able to obtain and maintain a Washington State CDL Class “B” endorsement with air brake restrictions removed and with a passenger and “S” (School Bus) endorsement within 90 days from date of hire. - Own and maintain automotive mechanical trade tools as determined necessary to safely and efficiently perform commonly assigned tasks. Note: Verification of identity and United States work authorization must be completed. The successful candidate for this position must be fingerprinted. Employment is contingent upon clearance by Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Reports to Night Lead Mechanic/Fleet Maintenance Supervisor

Additional Notes on Compensation

Mechanics salary classification "B" ($ 50,797.91 annual salary), 40 hours per week, for a 261-day annual assignment.

Working Conditions

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement that requires a membership or representation fee as an ongoing condition of continued employment after an individual is hired.
