Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist provides comprehensive diagnostic services to clients referred for a possible speech, language, hearing, fluency, voice, and/or swallowing disorder. With Physician referral and approval, treatment plans are implemented to address communication barriers to enable each individual to reach his/her maximum level of independence.

Responsibilities
  • Performs comprehensive evaluations of referred clients using standardized testing tools. Documents results in format approved by facility.
  • Provides speech therapy for all types of speech, language, hearing, fluency, voice, and swallowing disorders.
  • Completes all documentation that is required for each client (progress notes, summaries, and re-evaluations).
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal communications skills while maintaining standards of professional ethics.
  • Provides supervision for and co-signs documentation for staff Speech-Language Pathology Assistants.
Ideal Candidate
  • A person who is licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist by the state in which he/she is practicing by the state board of examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology.
  • Meets the education and experience requirements for a certificate of clinical competence in speech pathology and audiology granted by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association; Or
  • Meets the educational requirements for certification and is in the process of accumulation the supervised experience required for certification.
  • Competent to treat pediatrics and adolescents.
  • Must be able to follow written procedures and verbal directives.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to safely apply all necessary modalities and operation of equipment.
  • Must have adequate hearing and speech to effectively direct and re-direct the therapy program.
