Summary
Plans and conducts independent work within a global business unit requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to solving problems. Working knowledge of precedents in the specialty area, the principles and practices of related technical areas and of coordinating work with other technical disciplines. Understands standard engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating, and conducts independent work requiring judgment in the application of engineering techniques. Normally uses conventional approaches to technical problems encountered. Provides technical direction and assigns work to engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments.
Responsibilities
- Development of project scope - Management of project schedule and budget - Walk down of existing plant equipment - Origination and review of calculation - Specification of instrument and control valves - Design and review of P&IDs for various systems - Design and review of digital and analog logic - Digital upgrades of existing plant equipment - DCS and PLC system conceptual design - Allocation of DCS I/O, location/arrangement of DCS and other control cabinets - Application of tubing and instrument installation design - Review of supplier documentation - Candidate will be responsible for determining individual component’s safety classification, seismic category, and safety function as they relate to plant location, installation, functional and operational characteristics. **Key job specifics:** - Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management. - Reviews and approves key engineering output documents and summaries. - Requires a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline. - Requires a good knowledge of administrative practices. - Other duties may include, set point calculations, instrumentation specification, logic design, P&ID design, digital upgrades of existing plant equipment, DCS I/O layout, tubing and instrument installation design requirements, radiation detection, security systems, control room layout/ human factors, safety system design, etc. - Use SPI for instrument Index and Data Sheets - Prepare Spec and MR for JA03 Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS) - Prepare Spec and MR for JA34 Steam & Water Analysis System (SWAS) - Review vendor packages for GTG, HRSG, & STG - Prepare process control narratives (Logics)
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Qualifications:** - Right to work and remain in the United States without sponsorship. - Excellent written and verbal skills. - Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. - 8+ years Control Systems experience in thermal power - Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering **Preferred Qualifications** * A current professional engineering license (or scheduled to take exam)
