Summary
Provides engineering assistance to superintendents, directs assigned personnel in meeting cost and time schedules, verifies materials, equipment, workmanship and assures results meet design requirements. Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline for a particular area of the project. May act as Project Field Engineer on a moderate sized project. On a large job, performs assigned activities in one discipline, interfacing with other disciplines in all areas of the job. On a medium to small job, functions as a lead discipline engineer, coordinating all related discipline activities and interfacing with all other areas/disciplines on the job.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical direction and assistance to Electrical Superintendents and crafts; - Directs assigned personnel in meeting safety, quality, schedule and costs - Perform inspections of all electrical work in progress on a continual basis and complete final checkout of electrical installations to ensure quality and conformance to specifications and codes prior to turnover to client for startup - Assist project controls and supervision in the establishment of detailed work plans and mini-schedules - Perform takeoffs and initiate and track field purchased materials for electrical commodities - Coordinate and document client and vendor required verifications of instrument/electrical installations and tests - Assist the technical coordination the activities of the lock-out and tag-out program - Coordinate with vendor Technical Advisors as required - Coordinate with Engineering to resolve drawing and set-route issues - Inspect permanent plant materials during the receiving process to ensure they meet project standards and drawings - Issue FMR for purchase of permanent plant materials - Coordinate and inspect subcontractors in the electrical field; Experience in construction and technical inspection in the areas of installation and testing of electrical systems. - Must be familiar with National Electrical codes and NEMA standards for electrical installations. - May act as Project Field Engineer on a moderate sized project
Ideal Candidate
- B.S. in engineering or related field plus 5-7 years’ experience in construction/technical inspection OR equivalent work experience. - Must be proficient with Setroute automation tool - Must be computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications - Must be familiar with current industry quality standards and have a good working knowledge of Building codes for installation and design standards
