IS and T Field Technician

The Field IT Tech will report to the Field IT Lead and work as part of a team to implement the Construction Automation Plan including aspects of Hardware, Software, and Information Management.

The successful candidate will perform assignments that require initiative and limited independent judgment in the monitoring, maintaining, reporting and conducting entry-level fault finding resolution and response to technical issues and requests. The candidate will develop professional work knowledge and abilities through the application of standard information systems methodology, techniques, procedures and criteria.

• Responds to customers’ needs, questions and concerns in an accurate, effective and timely manner.
• Investigate and resolve problems and provide information about the technology to the users and to service delivery.
• Creates and maintains trouble tickets, configuration and inventory records; creates process maps.
• Performs specific tasks utilizing prescribed information technology methods.
• Conducts tests of standard hardware and/or software affected using supplied test procedures and diagnostic tools.
• Assists to resolve problems and faults concerning installation of hardware or software.
• Monitors site automation support issues and escalates as necessary for speedy resolution either locally or to site or remote IS&T BSAP Support teams.
• Identifies and implements technical innovations that add value and improve project work processes

Basic Qualifications

• 1-3 Years of Field IS&T experience (Bechtel experience preferred)
• Recognized degree in Computer Science, or Information Technology from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple assignments.
• Intermediate knowledge of:
• Server technologies : Xenapp; Server management tools/SMS or SCCM.
• Communications: UHF/VHF radios, LAN, Wifi, VOIP, DSL, etc.
• Cisco networking technologies
• Telecommunication cable installation and management
• Documentum/InfoWorks
• End User Devices: PCs/Multi-function Devices/VOIP/mobile devices
• Microsoft Office: Advanced level

Additional Information

• Strong customer relationship skills as well as verbal and written communication skills are required for this role.
• MCSE and/or CCNA certification would be an asset
