Summary
Under limited supervision, perform corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance and upkeep of LA Pant site manufacturing and facilities equipment with an emphasis on Automation, PLC, Electrical control systems and their I/O. Repair, overhaul and perform corrective and preventive Maintenance on plant equipment, electrical circuits and electrical controls to include, but not limited to, Automation Controls , PLC, Universal Controllers, Relay Logic, HMI, Data Acquisition, instrumentation and Controls Networking equipment based manufacturing, Lyophilization and Plant process control systems. Assist the department lead in the determination, bidding, scheduling and supervision of outsourced equipment/systems services for annual plant shutdown and year round operations.
Responsibilities
* Performs breakdown preventive maintenance of critical plant equipment on a regular basis, to include, but not limited to, lyophilizers, process controls, industrial control systems, SCADA systems and equipment as responsibility assigned to Electrical/PLC Facilities Engineering in both cGMP and non-cGMP area. * Responsible for repairing sterile lyophilization control systems (HMI, Instrumentation, SCAD and PLC) mechanical and electrical equipment as assigned.. * Write and/or revise preventive maintenance procedures as needed. * Individual will be responsible for a multi-craft duties within the business unit. * Ability to verity mechanical and electrical drawings for accuracy. Perform drawing update as necessary. * Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair of critical equipment including but not limited to Automation controls, PC Network, PLC Network, process control instrumentation, HMI (Wonderware), SCADA systems and initial calibration setup of control loops. * Requires familiarity with generally accepted building and electrical codes to include NEC and UMC in compliance with LA City and Baxter EH&S.; * Support engineering projects including but not limited to: equipment installation, commissioning, and validation process. * Cross-train new employees and teammates. * Attend required training and meetings. * Must follow safety rules and ensure compliance with L.A. City, CA state and federal EPA, SCAQMD, CAL OSHA and OSHA. * Must follow and comply with Baxter’s Standard Operating Procedures and cGMP policies. * Completes Work Orders in in compliance with L.A. Plant standard operating procedures. * Other duties as assigned. * A strong knowledge of electrical systems including distribution, PLC based process control systems, Human Machine Interface (HMI) configuration. * A strong knowledge of instrumentation and mechanical equipment, such as controllers, indicators, control valves, PLC, analyzers, sensors, pumps, etc. * Ability to read, write and Interpret technical documents and Instructions, electrical and mechanical drawings, equipment blue prints and piping and instrumentation drawings. * Must have customer service and leadership attitude to take ownership of any maintenance related problem. * A self-starter with the ability to work independently and use good judgment. Must be able to handle multiple priorities. Must be proactive, results orientated, and have a strong attention to details. * Must be able to work overtime on a short notice, support standby program and shift work
Ideal Candidate
* A strong knowledge of electrical systems including distribution, PLC based process control systems, Human Machine Interface (HMI) configuration. * A strong knowledge of instrumentation and mechanical equipment, such as controllers, indicators, control valves, PLC, analyzers, sensors, pumps, etc. * Ability to read, write and Interpret technical documents and Instructions, electrical and mechanical drawings, equipment blue prints and piping and instrumentation drawings. * Must have customer service and leadership attitude to take ownership of any maintenance related problem. * A self-starter with the ability to work independently and use good judgment. Must be able to handle multiple priorities. Must be proactive, results orientated, and have a strong attention to details. * Must be able to work overtime on a short notice, support standby program and shift work **Education and/or Experience:** * High School Diploma, A.A/A.S. technical discipline. Journeyman skilled craft training/apprenticeship certificate or commensurate combination of technical education and experience. * Minimum of 3 to 5 years maintenance experience at journeyman level in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environmen. * Proven successful interpersonal and customer service skills required. * Must be able to work in controlled environments requiring special gowning. Will be required to follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over the head, face, hands, feet and body. * No make-up, jewelry, contact lenses, nail polish or artificial fingernails may be worn in the manufacturing environment. * Will work in a cold, wet environment and hot and humid environments both inside and outside of the facility. * Will be working in a loud area that requires hearing protection and other protective equipment to be worn. * Will work around chemicals such as paint, flooring materials, refrigerants, alcohol, acids, buffers that may require respiratory protection. * Must be able to work multiple shifts, including weekends. * Must be able to work overtime as required * May be required to work in a confined area. * Some Clean Room and cool/hot storage conditions.
