Responsibilities
The Production Engineer supports daily operations to ensure timely, cost effective, and high quality production output and works with the Operations Group to optimize daily operations. The Production engineer will gain a thorough knowledge of the unit operations and theories used in the production of high quality catalysts. - Provide appropriate standard product, process, and equipment documentation, which include Manufacturing Instructions, Enterprise Resource Planning (SAP) data input related to product Bill of Materials, equipment rates, and costs. Conduct Pre-Production meetings for various production campaigns. - Develop equipment and process standards, operating procedures, diagrams, training materials, and job aids as required to properly document, teach, and manage site operations. - Identify and implement plans to optimize processes, increase material yields, improve product quality, develop productivity improvements, eliminate waste, and reduce operating costs. Identify and prioritize long-term opportunities. - Monitor and ensure compliance with EH&S items, lead Management of Change processes, and advocate to improve safety and environmental performance of areas that you are responsible for. - Investigate and troubleshoot plant issues. Oversee, review and bring to the attention of management various deviations from expectation so appropriate reaction/correction can occur. Develop and implement recommendations for correcting plant issues. - Work with Quality Engineers to identify and implement process capability analysis recommendations. - Provide coaching for production operators and Operations Group. - Responsible for supporting Zero Incident Mindset (ZIM), Journey To Excellence (JTE), and Responsible Care Management Systems (RCMS). Actively involved in site safety culture and processes to improve Operations awareness - Work with Customers, prepare presentations and attend Customer meetings as required - Manage new product and experimental production trials - Manage and/or provide process support for capital projects as required Works effectively with floor employees, co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive and positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress, timetables and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical business solutions; and; respecting the diversity of our workforce in actions, words and deeds.
Ideal Candidate
Qualifications - BS Degree in Chemical Engineering required. 2+ years of related processing engineering experience. - Intimate knowledge of production processes. - Inorganic chemical knowledge and catalysts experience (alumina/silica, base metals, precious metals) a plus. - Experience with relevant mechanical process equipment such as precipitation, tabletting, extrusion, impregnation, drying, and calcination a plus. - Knowledge and use of Statistical Process Control for process monitoring and improvement. - Project management skills and process analysis that promotes productivity and process improvements. - Results Orientation to identify and implement improvement plans to meet customer requirements on time and promote long-term plant viability. - Leading through vision and values ensures that actions and decisions support the vision. - Ingenuity to creatively introduce new technologies, including process controls and computer systems, which improve operations and reduce plant costs. - Exposure to Lean Six Sigma principles.
