Summary
Carry out research and development activities in a team environment; remain up to date with industry activities, academic research, and relevant manufacturing technologies; provide new ideas and work to continuously improve products and processes relevant to company strategies; be an effective contributor to internal and external company cross-functional teams; effectively communicate scientific information to scientists and non-scientists alike.
Responsibilities
* Develop processes and protocols for the manufacture of products in a variety of matrices; * Conduct research in a team environment, either as a team lead or team member, and interface with several company departments; * Develop experimental designs, run technical experiments, make detailed observations, analyze data, record and interpret results, and effectively report information written and orally; * Research and present ideas for new processes and continuous improvement opportunities; * Have knowledge of current scientific advancements, which may be reported in scientific papers, journals, books, etc.; * Conduct research on existing products to improve formulations, evaluate current processing methods, and enhance product and process quality; * Work with pilot production equipment in scale up efforts and with the production facilities to improve on-scale processes; * Assist with contract manufacturing when necessary; * Assist with customer complaint resolution and out of specification investigations as required; * Authorize (co-sign) production deviations for R&D trails; * Maintain oversight responsibility of R&D trials; * Be able to travel up to 20% of the time; * Other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Education/Experience:** * Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or closely related field plus a minimum of 3 years laboratory or research experience. * Experience in the nutraceutical or pharmaceutical industries, powder processing, and/or with mineral chemistry preferred. **Specific Skills/Abilities:** * Ability to effectively work in a team environment; intrinsically motivated, independent, and effective with individual projects and personal time management; * Have effective written and oral communication skills; * Be able to simultaneously work on multiple projects at a time; * Maintain organized notebooks and project files; * Must be computer literate and proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications.

Working Conditions

Office, laboratory, pilot production, and powder manufacturing environments. Occasional travel on company related business.
