The Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Communications is a vital role in the organization that will directly build, lead and manage communications activities.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Company’s organizational strategies to build the reputational foundation essential to the successful implementation of communication strategy.

  • Proactively protect the interests and reputation of the organization; oversee reputation management and communications with a focus on brand image as an industry leader.

  • Provide strategic planning, direction, and management of external communication and public relations programs. Use strategy to craft annual plan that identifies communications priorities, objectives, target constituencies and metrics for determining success.

  • Develop, oversee, and manage the budget for all communications and public relations activities. Develop/maintain KPI's around communication impact.

  • Manage external profile and reputation through oversight of media relations:Responsible for the Aspen Dental Management, Inc. media profile, overseeing all public statements.

  • Serve as chief spokesperson for the organization regarding field press inquiries.

  • Support the President, Executive Team, and Aspen Dental practice owners on media relations and speaking opportunities.

  • Identify and develop a strong pipeline of spokespeople.

  • Actively engage, cultivate and manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding Aspen Dental programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects.

  • Develop and maintain media-relations metrics.

  • Develop and implement an internal communications program that drives team member engagement and understanding of our mission, and specifically addresses the needs of the business.

  • Collaborate with marketing team and key stakeholders on ensuring consistency in overall messaging for the Aspen Dental brand.

  • Help shape and execute strategic government relations and public affairs advocacy with the ultimate goal of educating and influencing the public sector and policymakers.

  • As necessary, help build relationships and facilitate high-level meetings with key stakeholders, including policymakers, administration, regulatory agencies and industry associations to promote and advocate the company’s policy objectives.

  • Provide ongoing guidance to consultants, PR agencies or other third party representatives who interface with key constituencies to effectively convey the Company’s priorities and strategy to influential external audiences and stakeholders.

Ideal Candidate

xperience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing/Communications/Journalism or related field with minimum of 15 years in a communications leadership role with increasing levels of responsibility for management and support of communications strategy and tactics.

  • Extensive knowledge of and hands on experience with working in communications, public/media relations and perception/issues management.

  • Strong working experience in driving the communication strategy in a fast paced, changing culture is highly desired. Must thrive in an entrepreneurial and less structured environment.

  • Demonstrated ability working with various media vehicles to influence marketplace outcomes that drive changes to industry and legislative practices; fluency in the most current communications mediums and how they link as part of a comprehensive communications platform to create a differentiated brand; very current and successful experience leveraging technology for information sharing.

  • Ability to get advocacy messages into various news media. Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with top tier reporters and editors, and in successfully positioning subject matter with the media to achieve high-impact placements. An excellent spokesperson possessing strong oral and written communications skills.

  • Must be a strategic problem-solver, an influencer with leadership and interpersonal skills. Has demonstrated success with employee and leadership engagement communications and experience in developing internal communications programs.

  • Excellent project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
