Summary
The Preclinical and Translational Pharmacokinetics (PTPK) Department at Genentech, Inc. is seeking an exceptional lab-based researcher to support pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics programs for Client drug candidates with a focus on protein therapeutics. The candidate will be responsible for investigating the biodistribution and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamics (PKPD) relationships of Client therapeutics in preclinical models to identify lead candidates for further development, development of Client PKPD assays and for bridging preclinical PKPD information to patients. This will be accomplished by working in close partnerships across various functions including Research, Development Sciences and Clinical Sciences.
Responsibilities
The temporary Associate Scientist job will be a laboratory-based position with a focus on two different areas. The first is to develop Client assays to address current problems in PKPD analysis for difficult tissues or molecules with abnormal characteristics. The second is to perform radiolabeling and preclinical assessment of large molecules to further our mechanistic understanding of biologic drug disposition. The lab activities will include radiolabeling of molecules to for preclinical biodistribution studies in vivo and development and execution of in vitro assays. The Associate Scientist will have opportunities to interact and learn from scientists and other colleagues as well as participate in our group meetings including presentation of his/her own data collected during the temporary period.
Ideal Candidate
**Skills:** * A basic working knowledge of chromatography is required. Good laboratory hygiene and organizational skills are critical. The candidate must have demonstrated a general working knowledge of analytical techniques, receptor biology, antibody production/purification techniques and basic laboratory skills. Previous hands-on experience in conjugation chemistry and/or radiochemistry is desirable but not required. Knowledge or training in biochemistry, neuroscience and/or ophthalmology would also be desired but not required. The candidate will also be expected to actively participate in study protocol submission, data analysis and report writing. Good oral and written communication skills are important as well as demonstrated effectiveness in a team setting. **Education:** * MS or PhD (including recent graduates)
