Summary
Increase the productivity of inventory systems, kitting/pre-packaging, final device assembly, packaging, boxing, and labeling processes to help the business achieve production goals and growth strategies. Drive scrap/waste reduction efforts across Packaging Operations.
Responsibilities
* Discover opportunities for waste reduction and capacity improvement and proactively drive solutions with and without capital investment. * Act as liaison between Finance, Engineering, Facilities, and Materials/Supply Chain and to develop business case rationale for engineering projects and to coordinate MOC (Management of Change) process for the department. * Facilitate kaizen events targeting key improvements to drive productivity, data management/collection, and paperwork handling improvements. * Develop and implement systems and improvement strategies for direct material flow (in plant transport, inventory staging/access, and assembly line supply) * Evaluate process improvements for operations (labor balancing, time studies, line setup, error proofing, assembly methods, etc.) to minimize downtime and rework. * Provide financial analysis for Make/Buy decisions in support of continuous improvement projects. * Coordinate equipment / process changes on assembly lines. * Review product documentation for accuracy and completeness (BOMs, Routers, Work Instructions, Assembly Drawings, Packaging Instructions, Component Drawings, Inspection Process Sheets, etc.). * Create and manage production routers and MRB related rework processes. * Evaluate and approve engineering changes prior to implementation on plant floor. * Identify issues and risks to ensure cost effective new product development and introduction into manufacturing. * Assist with annual budget preparation. **Incidental Duties:** The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or other Engineering discipline required. * 3 years of related experience required. * Medical Device/FDA regulated industry experience preferred. * SAP experience preferred. **Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:** * Recognized process improvement training (Lean, Six Sigma) preferred. * Knowledge and experience in conducting time studies, mapping value streams, designing Poka Yoke fixtures. * Ability to analyze data and process inputs to justify improvements. * Ability to manage projects to a successful and timely completion. * Ability to assist in financial planning and cost analysis by estimating production labor and equipment costs. * Ability to develop most efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy. * Ability to work independently and effectively with cross functional teams. * SPC (Statistical Process Control) knowledge. * Strong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form. * Experienced user of MS Office Suite and project management software. * Strong technical writing and change management experience. * Solidworks experience preferred. **Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:** Label printing and application equipment, pouch and blister sealing equipment, ultrasonic welders, automated gluing systems, laser markers, automated/robotic assembly machines, Indexing conveyance systems, industrial printing equipment, and custom fixturing. **Reasoning Ability:** Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. **Mathematical Skills:** Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. **Language and Communication Skills:** Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
