Summary
To design and develop the mechanical aspects of automation equipment used in the Final Device Assembly and Packaging department. Act as an engineering resource for all activities required to implement the designed or purchased equipment into manufacturing.
Responsibilities
* Complete mechanical design of automation equipment and/or tooling capable of assembling and/or packaging medical devices in a clean room environment. * Support equipment builds and installations including mechanical component assembly. * Use 3D CAD software to develop models, drawings, and schematics for automation equipment and fixtures. * Produce complete documentation packages for, but not limited to, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, equipment manuals, and preventive maintenance plans * Communicate justification for designs to internal customers, management, Finance, and engineering teams. * Manage projects and activities assigned using project management principles to ensure completion on time and within budget. * Analyze test results in relation to specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet product specifications. * Execute test procedures and document results, numerical and graphical data, and recommendations for changes in product or processes. * Provide process validation support to the Packaging Manufacturing Engineering group on automation and equipment projects. * Support production as needed concerning equipment issues to mitigate and minimize production down time. * Review and generate engineering change requests on BOMs, routers, work instructions, as required to support department projects. * Communicate project or activity progress to Engineering Management, Sr. Mfg. Engineers, and cross-functional team members. * Manage all documentation required for projects and duties assigned. **Incidental Duties:** The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience** :* Bachelors degree in Engineering required, preferably with concentration in Automation, Mechanical, or Electro/Mechanical Engineering * At least three years of experience with equipment design and development preferred * Medical device or pharmaceutical experience preferred **Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:** * Basic understanding of manufacturing process preferred * Machine shop tools training or experience preferred * Detail oriented with strong analytical skills * Solidworks experience preferred * Experience designing and implementation of pneumatic circuits and components preferred * Experience assembling mechanical components per print specifications preferred * Experienced user of MS Office Suite * Basic understanding of Project Management Principles **Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:** * Working Knowledge of machine theory **Reasoning Ability:** Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. **Mathematical Skills:** Ability to comprehend and apply mathematical principles to the degree required to perform the job based upon job requirements. **Language and Communication Skills**: Ability to comprehend and apply language skills to the degree required to perform the job based upon the job requirements listed above. Ability to verbally communicate ideas and issues effectively to other team members and management.
