Summary
Armstrong Hardwood Flooring, a division of Armstrong World Industries, is looking for a Trim Saw Operator for 2nd shift operations at our Vicksburg, MS plant. Our facility manufactures wood veneer and plywood that is used to produce hardwood flooring.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for operating the trim saw and surrounding equipment/conveyors. Also, this position is responsible for performing maintenance on the trim saw line. This position requires the use of an individual’s muscle groups, so being physically fit is a necessity for performing the functions of this position. Duties include the following: - Load plywood into trim saw. - Do daily PMs and all other safety checks. - Follow lockout/tagout and other safety procedures. - Document and maintain daily production reports. - Maximize yield and productivity. - Look for ways to reduce downtime. - Check sweep make adjustment as needed. - Be able to change over and build arbor. - Be able to cut new bed plate. - Blow out saws at the end of every shift and sweep up. - Applying lean manufacturing practices by maintaining SQDC boards. - Keep area clean and organized through application of 5S principles. - Communicate problems and concerns with other shift operator, lead, and supervisor. - Other duties as assigned by supervisor. - Follow all safety guidelines.
